7月17日 Something to blog about.....Finally, something to blog about!! Trina and I just got our tickets for the trip that we are taking in September. We will be leaving on September 2 and arriving in Bangkok on September 3. From there, we will be traveling around Thailand hitting Sukhotai, Chiang Mai, and an island or two. We hope to see some temples, hike in some jungle, layback on the beach, and of course eat some great food. We will leave Thailand on September 16 and arrive in Seoul 6 hours later. From there, we will see a few sites in Seoul and then visit familiy. Finally, we leave Korea on September 19 and arrive back in the Seattle the same day (actually like 6 hours before we took off).
So my plan is to blog about trip preperation and to hopefully blog a little bit while on the trip as well. We will see how it goes. We are very close to finalizing our more detailed itinerary and I will post that when we have it. In the meantime, I thought that I would put a couple of references below that we have been using pretty heavily. Be happy.
Lonely Planet Travel Books - In my opinion, the lonely planet travel books are the best. Anytime I am even thinking about traveling somewhere I pick one up.
Thorntree Discussion Forum - The Thorntree is a discussion forum off of the Lonely Planet webiste. It gets a lot of activity. The information available on the forums for everything from accomadations to things to do to toilets is the single best travel resource that I have found on the web.
Travelfish - This is a site that I have recently found that is dedicated to travel in South East Asia. They have some good articles on destinations and a pretty active discussion forum. The moderator of the Thailand discussion forum is currently in Thailand and is actively answering questions so that is pretty nice.
Sawadee - This website appears to be the recommended resource for booking accomadations in Thailand. I have not used it to book anything yet and I may not but the feedback submitted on different hotels by users has been very useful. As a side note, Trina in her quest to teach both of us some Thai phrases recently informed me that Sawadee means Hello in Thai. :)
